UEFA Executive Committee approves the Disability Access Offer as part of the new UEFA Club Licensing and FFP Regulations

The UEFA Executive Committee approved the 2015–18 UEFA Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play Regulations at its recent meeting in Prague. One requirement of the updated regulations, which are effective from 1 July 2015, is for clubs to have a nominated disability access officer (DAO).

According to the regulations the DAO will be a club appointee and help clubs to meet the needs and demands of disabled supporters, who are often excluded and not taken into account in the delivery of service.

Speaking after the UEFA Executive Committee approved the 2015-18 UEFA Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play Regulations, CAFE managing director Joyce Cook called it “a great day for access and inclusion“. She continued: “The criterion will make a huge difference over the long term, and sends a very clear message of the need for better access for disabled people. We must again thank UEFA for their continued support for our topic and their commitment to making football truly accessible to all“.
