SD Europe Statement: UEFA EURO 2020
SD Europe supports UEFA’s decision in postponing the EUROS until 2021 and prioritising people amidst the Covid-19 outbreak.
We agree that football is quite simply not a priority over the health of fans, players and other professionals working in the European game, nor the population as a whole. We also support UEFA’s approach to engage the game’s stakeholders in working groups to act appropriately to resume football activities in the future and look forward to supporting these efforts.
The members of SD Europe will all face challenges over the coming months, as will their communities. Fans are playing a huge role on local, national and European level to help tackle the outbreak, raise funds and provide support to their communities. Working and assisting these communities around Europe is now key for us and our members. With football activities unlikely to resume soon, we are working to determine what support will be available to the national supporters organisations and member-run clubs in our network to pass over the difficult financial and social terrain ahead.
We encourage our members to get in touch via email@example.com with any enquiries for assistance and support.
