Dutch supporters unite in nationwide collective

Supporters groups from 24 professional football clubs in the Netherlands have joined forces to form the Supporterscollectief Nederland, which was officially launched this week.

Supporterscollectief Nederland aims to represent the interests of all football supporters in the Netherlands, from those who follow their teams home and away, loyal season ticket holders to the occasional visitors. The underlying philosophy is that all these people should be able to experience football in the way that they want.

The organisation has been born following an extensive discussion process behind the scenes, and aims to become a useful and responsible partners for all Dutch football stakeholders. Supporterscollectief Nederland is a partner of the KNVB and joins the Expert Group on Football and Security.

Wherever possible, the organisation will act in the name of all fans, and sit above individual club priorities. It has been born out of concerns in a number of areas, but will have a strong focus on the positive role football – and football supporters – can play in society. Ultimately, Supporterscollectief Nederland believes that as a new national organisation, it will benefit all concerned with the game to work together, in a structured way.
